VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT AFRICAN UNION MISSION IN SOMALIA (AMISOM) / 2008
The African Union (AU), established as a unique Pan African continental body, is charged with spearheading Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development by promoting unity, solidarity, cohesion and cooperation among the peoples of Africa and African States as well as developing new partnerships worldwide.
The Union also has a mandate to promote and maintain peace and security on the continent in particular and the world at large. As part of its efforts to promote peace and security in SOMALIA, and following the conclusion of the IGAD sponsored Somalia National Reconciliation Conference, the African Union has deployed a peace support operation in Somalia (AMISOM) with the following mandate:
- To provide support to the Transitional Federal Institutions (TFIs) in their effort towards the stabilization of the situation in the country and the furtherance of dialogue and reconciliation
- To facilitate the provision of humanitarian assistance, and
- To create conducive conditions for long-term stabilization, reconstruction and development in Somalia.
In seeking to achieve this mandate, the African Union Commission (AUC) invites applications from qualified citizens of Member States for the following positions in the African Union Mission to Somalia, (AMISOM):
- Chief Administrative Officer (En / Ar / Fr / Pr )
- Senior Political Officer (En / Ar / Fr / Pr )
- Police Adviser (En / Ar / Fr / Pr )
- Senior Humanitarian Affairs Officer (En / Ar / Fr / Pr )
- Senior Civil Affairs Officer (En/ Ar / Fr / Pr )
- Administrative/Personnel Officer (En/ Ar / Fr / Pr )
- Political Officer (En / Ar / Fr / Pr )
- Information Officer (En / Ar / Fr / Pr )
- Chief Communication/IT Officer ( En/ Ar / Fr / Pr )
- Protocol Assistant (En/ Ar / Fr / Pr )
