Abuja, Nigeria; 4 December 2006- A Summit on Food Security in Africa, which is being organised by the Nigerian government, the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the African Union and NEPAD, began in the Nigerian capital today, with a technical meeting of experts. The technical session was officially opened by the Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Mr. Mallamu Adamu Bello in the presence of the AU Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture, Mrs. Rosebud Kurwijila, the Nigerian Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development Mr. Bamidele Dada, Senior Special Assistant to President Obasanjo on NEPAD Chief Mrs Chinyere Asika, Dr Ahmadu Babagana, Director of the Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture in the African Union, Dr S Ingawa of the Ministry of Agriculture, ambassadors, senior officials, development partners and invited guests.
