28 July 2008- Nobel Women’s Initiative 2008 Africa visit to the African union Commission, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Representatives of the Nobel Women’s Initiative (NWI) 2008 African Mission including American Jody Williams, Nobel Peace Laureate, 1997, Kenyan Wangari Maathai, Nobel Peace Laureate, 2004, American Mia Farrow, activist and actress will visit the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa.
A press conference with interested journalists at the Addis-based African Union will take place. NWI delegates will make brief comments about their trip, meetings with African Union representatives in Addis and meetings planned with women’s groups, government officials and non-governmental organizations in Juba and eastern Chad, followed by a Question and Answer session with Addis-based local and international press.

The « MEDIA & Development » Forum will be held in Ouagadougou on 11, 12 and 13 September 2008. This seminar falls within the framework of the partnership between the European Commission and the Commission of the African Union, and will enable discussion to take place on the importance of the media in the context of development, to reinforce advances made or, again, to identify best practices. African Union Sign MoU with ECDPM
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today Friday 18 July 2008, between the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Dr. Erastus Mwencha and the Head of Institutional Relations of the European Centre for Developement Policy Management (ECDPM), Mr. Geert Laporte, at the Headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The objective of the MoU is to establish the framework for cooperation between the AU Commission and the ECDPM in various areas including capacity building, institutional developement, trade and godd governance amongsts others.
