PEACE HAPPEN: PREVENT VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND
GIRLS”
Addis Ababa, 19 July 2010
– In the framework of the Year of Peace
and Security (YoPS) in Africa, the African Union
(AU) will launch a photo exhibition during its 15th
AU Summit to be held in Kampala, Uganda, from 19th
to 27th July 2010 under the theme “Maternal,
Infant and Child Health and Development in Africa”.
As part of the efforts deployed to meet the YoPS
objectives, the AU intends to raise the issue of
Women and Children in Armed conflicts on its agenda.

– On the margins of the 15th African
Union (AU) Summit, to be held from 19 to 27 July
2010 in Kampala, Uganda, under the theme “Maternal,
Infant and Child Health and Development in Africa”,
the Panel of the Wise of the AU will launch its
report on “Election-related disputes and political
Violence: Strengthening the role of the African
Union in preventing, managing and resolving conflict”.
