WARNING - FRAUDULENT SCHEMES

The Commission of the African Union wishes to draw the attention of the general public to fraudulent schemes perpetrated by persons or groups of persons in various countries mostly though the internet posing as its agents in relation to the procurement of goods and services for use by the African Union or in relation to alleged clearance of exports or imports to Africa .

The Commission warns the public to beware of such schemes intended to defraud under the name of the African Union and requests that such approaches be referred to the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for verification. The Commission wishes particularly to warn the public that the AU does not have and is not in any way affiliated with any organs or institutions bearing the following names:

•  Humanitarian Supplies Procurement Board

•  African Union Western States Office, Cotonou, Benin

•  African Union Joint Intelligence Monitoring Committee

The Commission advises the general public that the African Union does not request payment of commissions or payment for services relating to its work.
